SUMMARY:EU AI Act: AI Act: banned AI practices and staff AI-literacy duty a
 pply
DESCRIPTION:Certain AI uses are outright banned (social scoring\, manipulat
ive or exploitative systems\, untargeted face-scraping\, emotion recogniti
on at work or school\, most real-time biometric ID in public). At the same
time every company that uses AI must take steps so its staff understand t
he AI tools they work with.\n\nWho is affected: Any business that develops
or uses AI systems in the EU\, including ordinary firms using AI chatbots
\, recruiting tools or analytics.\n\nWhat to do: Check your AI tools again
st the Art. 5 list of prohibited practices and stop anything that falls in
it. Keep a short inventory of AI tools in use. Run basic AI-literacy trai
ning for staff who use AI and keep a record of what you did\; the Omnibus
only requires supporting measures\, not a guaranteed skill level.\n\nPenal
ty: Prohibited practices: up to €35M or 7% of worldwide turnover (SMEs:
the lower of the two)\n\nNote: In force since 2025-02-02\; the Digital Omn
ibus on AI (Reg. 2026/1744\, in force 2026-07-27) softened Art. 4 to a dut
y to support AI literacy rather than guarantee it\n\nStatus: In force\nhtt
