Germany: transposition of the EU Pay Transparency Directive is overdue
2026-06-07 was the EU transposition deadline for Directive (EU) 2023/970. The BMBFSFJ's expert commission on a low-bureaucracy transposition delivered its final report on 2025-11-07, aiming to start the legislative process (Referentenentwurf) in early 2026, but no enacted German law reforming the Entgelttransparenzgesetz (EntgTranspG) has been found on official channels as of lastVerified. Status is therefore recorded as delayed rather than a new confirmed national date; do not treat this as the date obligations start in Germany until a national act is passed.
All employers for the eventual transparency/reporting duties; currently the unreformed EntgTranspG already gives employees in companies with more than 200 employees a right to request pay-comparison information.
